Important Articles

When it comes to carpet cleaning most consumers are at a loss. The only question you might know to ask is how much is it going to be? This article will give you some basic information on carpet cleaning methods so that you can decide which one is right for you and so that you can better interview your potential carpet cleaners. The most popular method of carpet cleaning is called "Steam Cleaning". With this method the carpet is first sprayed with a cleaning solution and then the solution is extracted from the carpet removing the soil. Carpet will dry within six to twenty four hours after cleaning with this method. Another popular method of cleaning is called shampoo cleaning. With this method the carpet is sprayed with a shampoo solution that is then agitated with the use of some sort of floor machine. The solution absorbs the soil and is then allowed to dry. After drying it becomes brittle and can be vacuumed out. Carpets are normally dry within one to two hours with this method. Yet another method of cleaning is bonnet cleaning. With this method a solution is applied to the carpet and is then absorbed by cotton or synthetic cleaning pads mounted on a floor machine. Carpets are normally dry in one to two hours with this cleaning style.

Wikipedia

Carpet cleaning, for beautification, and the removal of stains, dirt, grit, sand, and allergens can be achieved by several methods, both traditional and modern. Clean carpets are recognized by manufacturers as being more visually pleasing, potentially longer-lasting and probably healthier than poorly maintained carpets. Currently, steam-cleaning is the most popular and widely accepted process, the other methods also have their merits. Carpet cleaning chemical manufacturers have been creating new carpet care technologies for over 20 years. Encapsulation dry-cleaning and green-based chemicals are some of the more recent developments from the carpet cleaning industry. The professional carpet cleaning industry is primarily educated and unofficially governed by The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification (IICRC). It is a nonprofit certifying body for the specialized fabric cleaning industry that sets modern carpet cleaning standards. It accepts five basic professional cleaning methodologies.

Philadelphia

Philadelphia is the largest city in Pennsylvania and the sixth-most-populous city in the United States. In 2008, the population of the city proper was estimated to be more than 1.54 million, while the Greater Philadelphia metropolitan area's population of 5.8 million made it the country's fifth largest. The city, which lies about 46 miles southwest of New York City, is the nation's fourth-largest urban area by population and its fourth-largest consumer media market as ranked by the Nielsen Media Research. It is the county seat of Philadelphia County, with which it is coterminous. Popular nicknames for Philadelphia include Philly and The City of Brotherly Love, from the literal meaning of the city's name in Greek, Modern Greek: "love", and adelphos "brother"). A commercial, educational, and cultural center, Philadelphia was once the second-largest city in the British Empire (after London), and the social and geographical center of the original 13 American colonies. It was a centerpiece of early American history, host to many of the ideas and actions that gave birth to the American Revolution and independence. It was the most populous city of the young United States, although by the first census in 1790, New York City had overtaken it. Philadelphia served as one of the nation's many capitals during the Revolutionary War and after. After the ratification of the U.S. Constitution, the city served as the temporary national capital from 1790 to 1800 while Washington, D.C., was under construction. Philadelphia is central to African American history. Many of its larger suburbs such as Chester, Pennsylvania; Wilmington, Delaware; Camden, New Jersey; and Trenton, New Jersey (sometimes included in the New York metropolitan area) have African American majorities. This community has been large since before the Great Migration, and despite area civil rights gains, continues to be affected by poverty and high crime. The area, in common with most of Pennsylvania, also has a very large population of Italian Americans.

Chestnut Hill

The village of Chestnut Hill was part of the German Township laid out by Francis Daniel Pastorius and came to include the settlements originally known as Sommerhausen and Crefeld, as well as part of Cresheim. It served as a gateway between Philadelphia and the nearby farmlands. During the U.S. Revolutionary War era (late 18th century), the area was one of many summer vacation spots due to its higher elevation, 400–500 feet (120 to 150 m) above sea level, and cooler temperatures than the historic Center City. Chestnut Hill is still stereotypically known as one of the more affluent sections of Philadelphia. However, there are many residents who fall within lower/middle class incomes.

Fairmont Park

The park system is named after its first park, Fairmount Park, which occupies nearly half the area of the whole system, at over 4,100 acres (17 km²). Today, the Commission divides the original park into East and West Fairmount parks. The original domain of Fairmount Park consisted of three areas: "South Park" or the South Garden immediately below the Fairmount Water Works extending to the Callowhill Street Bridge; East or "Old Park" which encompassed the former estates of Lemon Hill and Sedgeley; and West Park, the area now comprising the Philadelphia Zoo and the Centennial Exposition grounds. The South Garden predated the establishment of the Park Commission in 1867 and Lemon Hill and Sedgley were added in 1855-56. After the Civil War, work progressed on acquiring and laying out West Park. In the 1870s, the Fairmount Park Commission acquired industrial properties along the Wissahickon Creek although this is not considered Fairmount Park proper. Likewise the Schuylkill River Trail is a modern addition and was not included in 19th-century acquisitions.
