About Us

Do yourself a favor and save yourself a lot of painting heartache by allowing a professional painter to do the work for you. You would not hire a plumber to fix an electrical problem. Some people are born to do certain things and born with the skills to be able to do these certain things. I have been painting houses for more than 17 years and I am an expert. I learned the painting trade through my father, and he had been painting for 28 years before he retired in 2003. There are many steps to proper painting, including but not limited to: full evaluation of interior/exterior, see what is wrong with the paint (moisture issues, rotted wood, improper water runoff, interior water seepage, flaking paint, previous contractor painting work, etc.) and last but not least, did you use GOOD quality paint. We live in CT, and we get snow, rain, hot humid weather in the summer, and ice buid up in the winter, so it is vital that your home painting be done by a professional who will get the job done right the first time!

Important Business Information

Its enough to damage any paint job. By just looking at a houses construction and proper rain drainoff can save years of non repainting. Fix those issues and then move on to proper paint preparation Power washing exterior surfaces This is the first and most important step as paint simply won't stick well to dirty surfaces. It's safer to use a hose and brush attachment than a power washer as power washers are known to often cause damage .

http://www.ctpainters.net Also consider using Bleach and or anti fungal cleaner if necessary to remove mold or mildew. Step 2: Scrapping For paint that is layered or tough to remove use a rotary paint remover which has more power to remove the paint. Some new improvements in painting removal have taken place dust free sand removing sanders have been invented which are a great chice. Step 3: Sand and Repair The next step is to sand the edges of the area where the paint was removed to help the new paint cover and hide the edge. Step 4: Taping and Covering.

The better you cover the easier the cleanup at the end. Step 5 Prime .Use oil primer for bare wood spots as to elliminate any wood from bleading through. Step 6 Paint .Use the highest quality paint you can afford. Now adays there are paints that can last a lifetime or 25-30 years. Apply with airless sprayers to allow for maximum mil coverage.Buck brush any coarse wood allow paint to dry at least 48 hours and then reapply a second coat,if need. Lots of reasons why you as a homeowner should think about hirining a Pro-contractor to handle any painting project

It needs some paint to look brand new , clean and just right. Do you you want to sell your house and in order to sell your real estate agent suggests that you need painting done on the interior or exterior of your house. As a painting contractor, I can share a few tips to help you get the best return on your house painting budget.

When was the last time you painted?

If, it was too long ago. Thats bad. Houses need regular attention to look their best. Old peeling, cracking paint will let moisture into your home, resulting in hidden damage such as mold, mildew, dry rot and water damage. Paint is designed to protect your home from the elements and inclement weather it can fail after time.

I recommend that you repaint your home on a regular basis and it will cost you less in repair bills. If you haven't painted in many years, you may find that you will have to pay the contractor to scrape, sand, caulk and prime before he can even get started on the actual paint job. Painting every few years will maintain the protective barrier that keeps your home looking well-kept.

We Give Good Painting and good quality at an affordable price

You wouldnt do that to your car wich is worth 1/10th of what your Home is worth and you would not let your floors rot Protect your home. Think of the paint as "Barrier", and quality paint equals higher protection for your house. Moisture and salt in the air contribute to paint deterioration especially if you live at the CT shore line, so make sure you buy paint that is specifically formulated for your climate, otherwise you will just waste your money.

For Exterior I use Duration lifetime warranty by Sherwin Williams it costs more but you get what you pay for using cheap quality paint can make a difference of repainting every other year or repainting every 7-10 years some homes with proper powerwashin maintenace every 2 yrs will last up to 15

Another thing I want to emphasize is that a quality contractor should also be high on your list. The law in CT requires all house painting contractors to have a license . For your protection.

CT painters are painters that you can trust to get the job done at a fair price and in the time specified.

A quality CT contractor will provide a detailed bid and will keep you informed of when they will arrive, who will be doing the work and what to expect.

Some homeowners prefer painting home trim on their own. Many others find the chore a headache, particularly during warm, dry spring or summer months when the weather is perfect for the paint--but harder on bodies. Ideally it's up to you. But having the job done right by a painting contractor often means you won't have to get out the ladders, drop cloths, and lemonade cooler every year for retouching. The right weather conditions are key for exterior painting jobs. Make sure any caulking is bone dry before painting on it. Even though you want to paint in temperatures over 50 degrees, you don't want the trim to bake in the hot sun while drying. If you've had rain, let the house dry for half a week before lifting a brush. To really do the job the professional way, you'll need to mask all the surfaces where you don't want spatters and drips with painters tape. Be sure to prime any trim that requires patching--or new trim that's been added to your home, say after installing new windows. Painting contractors usually paint trim from the top down, using brushes. Some will use a sprayer or narrow roller on wide fascia boards. If you're hitting the doors or storm windows, remove all hardware before you start. It might be a good idea to remove the windows if you can for easier painting. Leave railings for the last job on the list.

Paint

In the liquid application, paint can be applied by direct application using brushes, paint rollers, blades, other instruments, or body parts such as fingers. Paint application by spray is the most popular method in industry. In this, paint is atomized by the force of compressed air or by the action of high pressure compression of the paint itself, which results in the paint being turned into small droplets which travel to the article which is to be painted. Rollers generally have a handle that allows for different lengths of poles which can be attached to allow for painting at different heights. Generally, roller application takes two coats for even color. A roller with a thicker nap is used to apply paint on uneven surfaces. Edges are often finished with an angled brush. After liquid paint is applied, there is an interval during which it can be blended with additional painted regions (at the "wet edge") called "open time." The open time of an oil or alkyd-based emulsion paint can be extended by adding white spirit, similar glycols such as Dowanol (propylene glycol ether) or commercial open time prolongers. This can also facilitate the mixing of different wet paint layers for aesthetic effect. Latex and acrylic emulsions require the use of drying retardants suitable for water-based coatings. Paint may also be applied by flipping the paint, dripping, or by dipping an object in paint. Interior/exterior house paint tends to separate when stored, the heavier components settling to the bottom. It should be mixed before use, with a flat wooden stick or a paint mixing accessory; pouring it back and forth between two containers is also an effective manual mixing method. Paint stores have machines for mixing the paint by shaking it vigorously in the can for a few minutes. The opacity and the film thickness of paint may be measured using a drawdown card.

Painting

Painting is the practice of applying paint, pigment, color or other medium to a surface (support base). The application of the medium is commonly applied to the base with a brush but other objects may be used. In art the term describes both the act and the result which is called a painting. Paintings may have for their support such surfaces as walls, paper, canvas, wood, glass, lacquer, clay or concrete. Paintings may be decorated with gold leaf, and some modern paintings incorporate other materials including sand, clay, and scraps of paper.

Painting is a mode of expression and the forms are numerous. Drawing, composition or abstraction and other aesthetics may serve to manifest the expressive and conceptual intention of the practitioner. Paintings can be naturalistic and representational (as in a still life or landscape painting), photographic, abstract, be loaded with narrative content, symbolism, emotion or be political in nature.

A portion of the history of painting in both Eastern and Western art is dominated by spiritual motifs and ideas; examples of this kind of painting range from artwork depicting mythological figures on pottery to Biblical scenes rendered on the interior walls and ceiling of The Sistine Chapel, to scenes from the life of Buddha or other scenes of eastern religious origin.

House Painter

A house painter and decorator is a tradesman responsible for the painting and decorating of buildings, and is also known as a decorator or house painter. The purpose of painting is to make them look better or to protect them from damage by water, rust, corrosion, insects or mould.

The modern composition of paints results in latex formulations being widely used for exterior as well as interior. That greatly reduces post painting cleanup, and reduces the smells associated with petroleum and polyester based paints.

For many painting jobs, the most important innovation in painting has been computerized paint scanners that formulate new paints to match the often faded color of existing paints. Or, to match fabric colors, flowers or another desired source. Most chain stores offer color matching service.

Modern paints are available in various specialized formulations that can be fade resistant, chip resistant, odor free, antibiotic to resist mold and fungi growth, etc.

For surfaces where a very smooth surface is desired, most retailers carry inexpensive chemicals that can be added to paints to better make the paint flow or lay flat. Such additives are preferable to thinning paint, which can change some of the paint's characteristics.

For the layman, the most confusing element is primer and priming surfaces. For surfaces such as wood, paint alone is too thick and will be on the surface, but not adhere well, resulting in flaking. Primer is a thin paint solution, or even a specialized liquid color coordinated to support the finish coat, which penetrates into the pores of wood, and allows the finish coat to adhere to the underlying primer.
